Vibrant Hand-Dyed Yarns & Fiber Art Essentials
Welcome to Knot & Bones, an atelier of hand-dyed yarns and curated curiosities, nestled quietly in the heart of Jacksonville, Florida. We are a woman-owned enterprise, dedicated to the artful and the enduring, we believe each skein tells its own unique story—a tapestry of hue and texture wrought with meticulous care.
Our yarns and fibers are not merely materials but companions in creation: from the warmth of wool and the delicate caress of alpaca to the airy grace of cotton and bespoke blends, each strand is imbued with character. You will discover an array of colourways—variegated, semi-solid, speckled—that evoke both the familiar and the unexpected, designed to elevate your knitting, crocheting, and fiber arts into works of quiet grandeur.
Yet, Knot & Bones extends beyond the skein. Here you will find accoutrements worthy of your craft: artisanal project bags that are sturdy and elegant, stitch markers to help keep you on track and keep you company as you work. We have also hand crafted a few small luxuries for moments of reprieve—handmade soaps, bath bombs, lotion bars, and delicate wash—each one a nod to the belief that self-care, beauty and utility should be inseparable companions.
Our commitment is not merely to artistry, but to integrity. Each fiber we select is ethically sourced, tracing a path of stewardship from farm to skein. Our wool and alpaca are procured by our mill from trusted farms that uphold the highest standards of animal welfare, ensuring that the creatures who give us their fleece are treated with dignity and care. Our plant-based fibers—cotton, linen, and others—are chosen with an eye toward sustainability, favoring growers who minimize environmental impact.
In the dye studio, we select dyes that are both vivid and steadfast, taking pains to reduce water usage and to neutralize effluent before it ever leaves our pans. Each batch of yarn is dyed by hand, in small quantities, allowing us to maintain both precision and a light footprint.
Our dedication to sustainability extends to every element of the Knot & Bones experience. We use minimal, recyclable packaging wherever possible—in an effort to ensure that beauty is never bought at the cost of the natural world. Even our labels and tags are selected with environmental mindfulness, because we believe that responsibility lies as much in the smallest detail as in the grandest vision. In every facet, we strive to offer you not only objects of utility and beauty, but goods that honor the earth from which they come.
Whether you are a practiced artisan or one who stands at the threshold of this timeless craft, we invite you to peruse our offerings. Knot & Bones is a haven for those who find solace in the measured rhythm of the needle and the quiet unfolding of imagination.

The Owner & Operator
The Hands, Heart, and Mind Behind Every Skein

Megan Mathison
Owner & Fiber Artist
Born in Indiana in 1989, Megan Mathison has always gravitated toward slow, intentional forms of creativity—the kinds of practices that allow the hands to lead and the mind to breathe. After moving to Jacksonville with her husband and their miniature schnauzer, Io, in 2022, she founded Knot & Bones as both an atelier and an ethos: a place where color, craft, and care could intertwine.
Megan is the heart and hands behind every skein. With a deep respect for fiber and form, she dyes in small batches, drawing inspiration from landscapes, weathered textures, quiet moods, and the emotional memory of color. Her work is not just about yarn, but about building a community around slowness, beauty, and sustainable craft.
Driven by a commitment to ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility, and inclusive creativity, Megan sees Knot & Bones as more than a fiber arts studio—it’s a haven for makers. Whether you’re just beginning or have spent a lifetime stitching story into fabric, her mission is simple: to inspire, to equip, and to welcome you home to your next project.
